Classroom Materials

In this page you will find different ideas, drawings and lesson plans how to combine 3D printing in your studies and to the curricula.

Examples below are just some ways to make your subject more interesting and attractive to students.

Collect ideas, do experiments, try different things- 3D printing can be added to almost every topic!

Lesson plans

If you are TEACHER and reading that, then you probably don't need introduction what lesson plan is 😊

But for others- its teachers tool- there are things to achieve and timetable where, when and what to do. Also evaluation levels and grade minimums are described. Off course all the timetables and lesson plans depends on students and their educational levels.

So take lesson plans and ideas witch you find below as a starting point- discover and experiment different things.

Bigger projects- Drone and Car spoiler

Drone frame and assembly!

This is little bit more specific and comprehensive topic.

That`s why we made it separate page. You can download all printable frame parts and also find parts list that you need to assemble your own drone.

Car rear spoiler!

Also little bit bigger project.

We use 3D skanner and 3D prnting and glass fibre and epoxy. Thats the closest experience you can get with 3D printing and prototyping parts!

Examples of 3D printing in technical education

Below are some examples how you can use 3D printing in vocabulary schools.

They are just examples and can be made by teacher or students.

There are numerous different opportunities. For example you can multiply some example parts so every student can have their own.

Be creative and try out different things. 3D printing is relatively cheap and if something goes wrong, then losses won't be big

EXAMPLE 1

You can use 3D printed parts in many different lessons as practical detail examples.

You can use them in:

Drawing1-Layout1.pdf
Detail 1, 2ja 3-1.pdf
Detail 1, 2ja 3-3.pdf
Detail 5-Layout1.pdf
Detail 1, 2ja 3-2.pdf
Detail 1, 2ja 3-4.pdf

EXAMPLE 2

You can use 3D printed parts as models or mock-ups for real parts. They are easy to make, clean and they weight much less.

You can use them in:

Weld thickness gauge!

Students can learn tehnics and tools how to measure different quality indicators.

3D printed example part is small, easy, lightweight and clean.

EXAMPLE 3

Lathe cutting clades deisplay model.

For example teacher can make one lesson task to put every blade to right place! Using 3D printing gives you opportunity to make section parts or multible ones- every group have their own!

EXAMPLE 4

Metal pipes and profiles display

This model takes time, but it's not impossible to print. You can print pipe profiles out individually and then attatch them to display. there are numerous ways to do that!

It's also good and reatively simple task for someone new in CAD drawing.

EXAMPLE 5

Stencil

Stencil rulers what you can buy in shops usually ends with circle size 40 mm. We needed bigger ones, so we made them ourself.

Our model is: 35/49/45/50/55/60 mm openings. Printing time about 2h.

EXAMPLE 6

Bicycle grips

One way to integrate 3D printing to mechanical teaching is to start with simple parts.

One possibility is to give students task to make "tuning" parts for bicycle.

Then students will learn to:
